A Mediterranean moray, Muraenidae ( Fig. 2C View Figure 2 ), was captured on 11 February 2017 by the fishing master Mr Rémy Descamps on the coastal gillnetter Atalante from Arcachon. It was caught in a trammel net targeting Common sole off south Lacanau (Bay of Biscay, Aquitaine, France), at 44.7833°N, – 1.5417°W, at 63 m depth on a sandy bottom. The fresh specimen measured 1153 mm TL, 1140 mm SL, and the head was 146 mm long. Its weight was 3.88 kg. The specimen was preserved for taxidermy with the collection No. MNHN-IC 2019-0093 and tissue sample was preserved under No. BPS-3856. Recorded by LM. The present specimen is a new record for the French Atlantic coast where the species is uncommonly recorded GoogleMaps .
