We collected an unknown larva of this genus from Neck Lake, a large lake on Prince of Wales Island and two unknown larvae from a small lake north of Whale Pass on Prince of Wales Island. These are the first faunistic records of the genus in Alaska. Cranston & Epler (2013) note that it is almost unknown in the western states. Out of the 41 known species, only 4 are known to have a Nearctic distribution, with the majority of the species being found in the Palearctic and Oriental regions. The larvae of species in this genus mainly inhabit the soft sediments of lakes and slow-moving streams and rivers.
