Psectrotanypus Kieffer, 1909 View in CoL

We collected an adult and a pupal stage of Psectrotanypus dyari ( Coquillett, 1902) from a small first-order stream draining a hillside on Point Lena Loop Road northwest of Juneau off Highway 7. Although this habitat is not associated with the larvae, there are slow-flowing ditches associated with a road that is part of this stream. The larvae are found in ponds, bogs, small bodies of water, and slow-moving streams ( Cranston & Epler 2013, Roback 1978). This species is widespread in the Nearctic. This is the first faunistic record for Alaska.
