No type material exists. According to the original description, this species is closely related to P. speciosa , but is distinguished by more slender bodyshape, heart-shaped head, longer and narrower dorsal cirri, and different pigmentation. However, these minor differences do not exclude the possibility that P. picta is a junior synonym of P. speciosa .
