Type data: This species was described based on an undetermined number of males collected in Santarém, northern Brazil. A male belonging to the type series was found at NHMUK and is here designated the lectotype. The specimen has the following data label: Type H. T. [red-rimmed circular label, printed]\ B.M. TYPE HYM. [printed] 17B.917. [handwritten]\ [light blue circular label] Santarem [handwritten]\ [black-rimmed label] Santarem [handwritten]\ Centris tarsata . (Type.) Smith [handwritten]. The lectotype is in good condition and is coded NHMUK 010812611 in the NHMUK data portal.
Type locality: Brazil: Pará state: Santarém .
Comments: This is the only known species of C. ( Hemisiella) in which males don’t have a spine-like projection on the posterior margin of hind basitarsus. This species was correctly interpreted by Moure et al. (2007) and Vivallo & Zanella (2012).
