Type data: This species was described based on an undetermined number of male specimens collected in an unknown locality in Venezuela. A syntype is currently housed at NHMUK and is here designated the lectotype. The specimen has the following data label: Type H. T. [red-rimmed circular label, printed]\ B.M. TYPE HYM. [printed] 17B.923 [handwritten]\ Veneza. 55.89. [printed]\ Centris semicaerulea Smith (Type) [handwritten]. The lectotype is slightly dirty and is coded NHMUK 010812614 in the NHMUK data portal.
Type locality: Venezuela .
Comment: The type locality cannot be further narrowed down than to Venezuela, but as well as the previous species; probably it was collected in a mountainous area.
