Hirstionyssus minor Zemskaya & Piontkovskaya 1957: 44 , figs 3.
Hirstionyssus minor — Lange 1958: 215; Senotrusova 1987: 99, fig. 47.
Echinonyssus minor — Tenorio 1984: 272.
Type locality: Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan Region, in the vicinity of Razino village .
Type series: EMAMS .
Type host: the Altai zokor, Myospalax myospalax Laxmann, 1773 .
Host range: A characteristic parasite of the Altai zokor. Senotrusova (1987) mention an occasional finding of this species on Mustela eversmanni Lesson, 1827 , the steppe polecat.
Distribution: East Kazakhstan, southwest Siberia, north China ( Tenorio 1984; Davydova & Nikol’sky 1986; Senotrusova 1987).
Notes: Senotrusova (1987: 99) characterises H. minor as an ‘exceptionally rare’ species. Litvinov & Sapegina (2003) failed to find it in a large sample of ectoparasites of M. myospalax from the northern Altai.
