Identification. Body elongated; mouth subterminal; premaxilla with 4 teeth, maxilla with 1 or 2 and dentary with no teeth; dorsal fin with 10–13 rays, pectoral fin with 11– 14 rays, pelvic fin with 7–9, anal fin with 7 or 8 and cau- dal fin with 18 or 19 rays ( Graça and Pavanelli 2007).
