Geographical distribution: Texas, United States, in the Nearctic region to Trinidad & Tobago in the Neotropical region.

Habitat: ponds, marshes, springs, and river pools.

Comments: Alayo (1967, 1974) reported collecting representatives of the species in all Cuban provinces, but did not give distributional details.
