Subspecies curta is found in the Rocky Mountains from southern Montana to Colorado. It has a light gray forewing with prominent yellow or orange tinting, a dark postmedial line, and dark shading preceding the subterminal line. The dorsal hindwing marginal band contains lighter scales and appears patchy. This subspecies is larger than L. i. impingens View in CoL (expanse 27–32 mm).
