DIAGNOSIS. Amorbia productana is most similar to A. revolutana from which it can be distinguished by the absence of emargination of the sacculus and the presence of scales in the anal portion of the HW concolorous with the HW ground color.
DESCRIPTION. MALE. FW length 7.0–9.0 mm (mean = 8.0; n = 14). HEAD: Frons concave, white scaled, vertex scaling in two groups, ferruginous brown. Labial palpus ca. 2.0X length of inter-antennal distance, brown laterally, paler on inner surface. THORAX: Dorsum smooth scaled, ferruginous; tegula concolorous. FW ground ferruginous-brown with basal, median, and postmedian fasciae darker. Costal fold well developed, reaching ca. 0.5 length of FW, spines on Sc vein. HW pale brown, anal scales concolorous. Rs vein swollen in basal 0.33. ABDOMEN: Brown. Genitalia as in Fig. 67 (slide # 197869, INBio, Costa Rica, Guanacaste, Estación Pitilla; n = 14). Transtilla narrow in middle posterior, with fine spines. Valva subrectangular. Sacculus sclerotized. Aedeagus 0.8X length of valva, slender, curved in middle .

DISTRIBUTION AND BIOLOGY. This species was found in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and Surinam ( Fig. 133) below 800 m elevation. Data show flight activity throughout the year.
HOST PLANT RECORDS. Amorbia productana was reared from larvae feeding on Sabicea panamensis (Rubiaceae) and Vernonia patens (Asteraceae) (see Appendix III) (Janzen & Hallwalchs, 2006).
REMARKS. The male genitalia of the holotypes of A. productana and A. aequiflexa are indistinguishable, and on this basis the synonymy of the two is proposed.
