Description of Afipia massiliensis SH View in CoL 41

Cells are gram-staining-negative, non-flagellated, rod-shaped. Colonies are circular, convex with entire edge and white-colored after 3 days on R2A agar at 25°C. Positive for oxidase, arginine dihydrolase and urease, but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, esculin hydrolysis, gelatinase and β -galactosidase. Adipic acid and malic acid are utilized. Does not utilize D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid. The strain SH41 (= NNIBRBA 42) was isolated from freshwater of the Sohan-stream, Samcheok, Korea.
