Positive for gelatin hydrolysis, but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, esculin hydrolysis, β -galactosidase in API 20NE. D-Glucose, capric acid, malic acid and trisodium citrate are utilized as sole carbon sources, but not L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, adipic acid and phenylacetic acid. Strain UL 498-1 (= NIBRBAC000498618) was isolated from a seawater sample, Ulleung Island, Korea.
