3.34. Myrcia atramentifera Barbosa Rodrigues (1891: 31) View in CoL . Type:— BRAZIL. No specimen cited in the protologue.

The protologue of Myrcia atramentifera illustrates a longitudinal section of an open flower, a petal, an anther, a cross sectional of the ovary (showing four ovules) and a pollen grain. These elements are not enough to recognize a species inside Myrcia and along with the absence of type specimen leave M. atramentifera as an incompletely known taxon. The pilose floral disk and the hypanthium not prolonged beyond the ovary suggest affinity with Myrcia sect. Myrcia .
