3.33. Myrcia stenocymbia Diels (1906: 596) View in CoL . Type:— PERU. Depto. Junin, Prov. Tarma, in valle Chanchamayo pr. La Merced in silvis apertis, 1000 m, December 1902, Weberbauer 1884 (syntype B [destroyed]).

The protologues of these five species describe features such as a pilose floral disk ( Aulomyrcia platyclada , M. heliandina , M. stenocymbia ) and cylindrical fruits ( M. cristalensis ), which would allow their placement in Myrcia sect. Myrcia . Furthermore, they are compared in the protologues with species belonging to this section: Myrcia cristalensis and M. heliandina are compared with synonyms of M. splendens ( Swartz 1788: 79) De Candolle (1828: 244) , and M. atramentifera is compared with M. eximia De Candolle (1828: 248) . Myrcia sprengeliana was described by Berg in Myrcia , whose circumscription in his sense is similar to Myrcia sect. Myrcia , though no typical feature is described in the protologue. However, the types of these species were not found, preventing conclusions to be drawn regarding the validity of the names.
