5.2.2. Myrcia chocoensis View in CoL Parra-Os. (2022: 194). Type:— COLOMBIA. Chocó, Quibdó , “Carretera yuto-Lloró”, ca. 80 m, 30 June 1983, Forero 9639 (holotype COL [image!]; isotype MO) .
Myrcia sect. Aulomyrcia is a large section with a circumscription that overlaps other sections of Myrcia View in CoL . The protologue suggests affinity with Myrcia aliena McVaugh (1958b: 627) View in CoL , a member of M. sect. Myrcia View in CoL . However, features such as calyx lobes that are patent after anthesis, glabrous receptacles (except for a few scattered trichomes), and the hypanthium apparently prolonged beyond the ovary, all match Myrcia sect. Aulomyrcia where we place this species.
