3.38. Myrcia acuminatissima Hieronymus (1895: 64) View in CoL , nom. nud. Type:—non existent.
An analysis of Hieronymus (1895) shows that the author did not describe Myrcia acuminatissima . Instead, the author only compares Myrcia frontinensis Hieronymus (1895: 63) (= Myrcia paivae O. Berg 1857 –1859: 179) with Myrcia acuminatissima O. Berg (1857 –1859: 167) (= Myrcia racemosa (O.Berg) Kiaerskou [1893: 72] ). Myrcia acuminatissima Hieron. was first mentioned in Index Kewensis ( Durand & Jackson 1906) , possibly in error, as in the case of the two Myrica species ( Myricaceae ) described above. For this reason, it is considered a nomen nudum.
