Associated/host plants. Unknown.

Distribution. British Guiana and México ( Carvalho & China 1951). Colombia (Risaralda).

Comments. This is the first record of this genus in Colombia. The genus is composed by two described species: Emboliocoris marginatus ( Distant, 1884) and Emboliocoris pacaraimensis Carvalho & China, 1951 , each described from one specimen. Carvalho & China (1951) differentiated the two species by the color pattern and the male genitalia; however, the genitalia of E. marginatus is neither described nor illustrated. Therefore, we requested assistance from the British Museum of Natural History (BMNH) to obtain photographs and the label information of the Holotypes. With this, we were able to determine that the Holotype of E. marginatus is in fact a female.

The genitalia of the specimen examined in this study matches that of E. pacaraimensis , but the coloration pattern resembles that of E. marginatus , particularly the transverse spot on the pronotum; due to this, it was not possible to identify the specimen at the species level.
