Types

Lamprocolletes amabilis holotype ♀, N. Holl. (sic) [= New Holland] ( BMNH 17 a.515) .

Paracolletes cupreus semipurpureus Queensland: holotype ♀, Ridge N 98, Mackay, G. Turner ( BMNH 17 a.490) .

Paracolletes carinatulus Queensland: holotype ♂, Mackay, G.Turner ( BMNH 17 a. 425) .

Paracolletes festivus New South Wales: holotype ♂, Sydney, 14.ix.1906, Frank ( AMNH) .

Paracolletes mimulus Victoria: holotype ♀, ( BMNH 17 a.442) .

Paracolletes melbournensis Victoria: holotype ♀, Melbourne, Rolle ( ZMB) .

Paracolletes ornatissimus Queensland: holotype ♀, Oxley, Brisbane, 24.ix.1914, H. Hacker ( BMNH 17 a.483) .

Paracolletes frenchi Victoria: holotype ♀, Rutherglen, French, 1904 ( BMNH 17 a.491) .

Paracolletes rufipes New South Wales: holotype ♂, Berowa, near Hawkesbury River , 11.xii.1923, T.G. Campbell ( AM) .

The holotypes of Lamprocolletes amabilis , Paracolletes melbournensis , Paracolletes frenchi , P. mimulus , P. ornatissimus , and P. semipurpureus are all females and show no significant morphological variation. The types of Paracolletes carinatulus , P. festivus and P. rufipes , which are all males, are the same as those males associated with Lamprocolletes amabilis by morphological similarity and coincident collection data. Undoubtedly the large number of synonymies are the result, in part, of the abundance and extensive distribution and variability in the colour of the metasoma.
