This species was first described from Hong Kong, and is now known from Japan including the Bonin islands, Korea, East China Sea including Tawain, South China Sea, and Western Australia. The material reported by Tirmizi (1966) from the Red Sea and South Arabian Sea may in all probability be identical with G. anepipoda Baba, 1990 .
