The genus Niphta View in CoL is characterized by a distinct ridge (supraalar region) in front of the wing, microtrichia of first vein (R+R 1 +R 1+2) confined to base near humeral crossvein, crossvein closer to origin of R 3 than to apex of R 1+2, R 3 with arch not strongly produced, basal appendage of CuA absent, gonocoxites broad, not much longer than wide and hypandrium narrow.
