Genus Alosa Linck, 1790

Kottelat and Freyhof (2007) listed Alosa volgensis (Berg, 1913) from Iranian waters, but we cannot confirm its presence in Iran. The distribution range of this species is limited to the northern Caspian Sea. Alosa curensis (Suvorov, 1907) is poorly documented, and was described from Kyzylagach Bay of Azerbaijan. We could not confirm the presence of this species in Iran.
