Description. Shell small, ovate-conic, whorls convex, aperture subpyriform, peristome moderately thickened, inner lip narrowly separated from parietal wall, narrowly umbilicate. Columella bears distinct fold covered in minute denticles. Sculpture of growth lines and weak axial ribs. Protoconch of about 1.1 whorls, minutely granulate. Operculum reddish, subpyriform, paucispiral, inner surface without white smear, without protuberance(s). Radula with median cusp of central teeth longer and much wider than adjacent cusps; lateral margins narrow; innermost of two pairs of basal cusps very small. Male with prostate gland bean-shaped, about half of length in pallial wall. Pallial vas deferens strongly folded. Penis with long, tapering distal part, wider middle section and wide base; penial duct coiled in base. Female with coiled oviduct rather short, forming simple arch or loop. Bursa copulatrix lies beneath albumen gland and at front edge of globular bursa copulatrix. Anterior half capsule gland blind pocket. Vestibule expanded anteriorly as muscular protuberance extending forwards and nearly as long as capsule gland, with genital opening at anterior end and no associated cowl or gutter present.

Distribution. Only known from some springs on Edgbaston and Myross Stations, Barcaldine Supergroup.

Contained species. Edgbastonia alanwillsi Ponder, 2008

Remarks. The type species of Edgbastonia is readily distinguished from the remaining species included here in Edgbastonia by the presence of a columellar fold, the reddish operculum and the anatomy of the female genital system, in particular the long anterior extension of the vestibular part of the ventral channel and the remainder of the ventral channel being separated from the capsule gland.
