DISTRIBUTION. — East and southwest coasts of New Caledonia, live in 400-570 m, shells down to 780 m.
DESCRIPTION. — Shell up to 5 mm long, fragile, curved, sculptured with close, fine, encircling wrinkles throughout. Section subcircular, dorsoventrally depressed throughout. Preapical callus thin, lumen circular. Mouth walls thin, especially on ventral side.
Measurements of holotype: L 5, W 0.50-0.45, w 0.1, arc 0.22.
REMARKS. — Compared with Compressidens platyceras Sharp & Pilsbry in Pilsbry & Sharp, 1897, a shallow-water species from eastern Australia, and the only comparable species in the region, C. hienghenensis , is smaller and less compressed.
ETYMOLOGY. — Named after the type locality.
