Ariasa nigrovitatta Distant 1905a: 314 (type material examined).
Type locality. Central Brazil, Chapada ( Brazil), and Bolivia.
Remarks. The species was reported from Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil ( Metcalf 1963a) and was recently added to the cicada fauna of Paraguay (Sanborn 2011a). It has been recorded in Córdoba, Jujuy, and Tucumán Provinces in Argentina ( Torres 1945b; Hayward 1960). We collected specimens in Chaco, Córdoba, Salta, Santiago del Estero, and Tucumán Provinces. The species is associated with the Chaco floristic province ( Sanborn et al. 2011a).
