Remarks. This species is similar to Japanagromyza cupreata in coloration, but is recognizable by its less shining mesoscutum, presence of spine on the antero-ventral apex of the cercus, and two apical spines on the claw-like surstylus, short membranous hypophallus, and two long tubules of the distiphallus ( Sasakawa 1963a: Fig. 2). The external character of a female found for the first time was similar to that of the holotype male, except for the abdomen was densely dusted with brownish gray as well as the mesoscutum..
Material examined. VIETNAM – Ƥ, 18 km NW of Dalat, 1300m, 4–5. V. 1960, S. & L. Quate ( BPBM). Distribution. Vietnam, China ( Hong Kong).
