Japanagromyza involuta Spencer View in CoL
Japanagromyza involuta Spencer, 1977b: 357 View in CoL .
Remarks. This species is notable for its all reclinate or, hairy anterior margin of the frontalia, linear gena (less then 1/30 as high as eye), and two-bulbiform distiphallus. A male examined was easily identical with involuta by the original description, especially in structure of the male genitalia. However, some different points from the original description were found in the external and internal structures: knob of the halter is narrowly yellow in inner side (not entirely black in the original description), oh are minute, reclinate, and arranged in row (not lacking), acr are arranged in eight rows (not six rows), fore-tibial lateral bristle is present (not absent); ejaculatory apodeme is slightly longer than the phallus (not twice as long as phallus).
The male genitalia are described in detail: epandrium with a pair of strongly chitinized sclerites in inner side just above incurved surstylus; cercus about 1.5 times as high as epandrium, with five strong setae in antero-ventral part; hypandrium 600 µm long, with basal apodeme only 1/6 as long as sidepiece; phallapodeme 950 µm long; phallus 520 µm long; basiphallus weakly sclerotized, left sclerite of which with spinulose membranous process; hypophallus short; distiphallus bulbous, ventrally with spinulose lobes; ejaculatory apodeme 550 µm long, blade expanded asymmetrically, 340 µm wide (phallus: see Spencer 1977b: Figs. 30, 31).
