Diagnosis. Small (TL 2.3–2.6 mm), dark brown species. Penis relatively short, narrowed in the middle, tergite VIII with distinct median process and without emarginations on its sides.
Description. Holotype, male. Body oval, convex, covered with whitish, suberect setae. Body dark brown, legs, antennae, and mouthparts yellowish. Head very broad, 1.7× wider than width of interocular space, with distinct but fine punctation, punctures small, granulate, separated by 1.0–2.0× diameter of a puncture, eyes moderately large, not protuberant. Pronotum transverse, widest at its base. Disc of pronotum with fine, granulate punctation, punctures separated by ca. 2.0–3.0× diameter of a puncture. Posterior margin of pronotum subtly bisinuate. Anterior angles protruding anteriorly, subtriangular, posterior angles obtuse. Scutellar shield subtriangular, covered with subtle punctation. Elytra oblong, without traces of longitudinal ridges, widest in the middle of their length, sides curved, regularly converging to apex in posterior 1/3. Humeri well marked. Punctation stronger than on pronotum, punctures elongate, distance between punctures ca. 0.5–1.0× diameter of a puncture.
Male genitalia. Penis (L 0.80 mm, W 0.13 mm, Fig. 15A View FIGURE 15 ) long and narrow, widened in basal half, parameroids short, hooked, pointed at apices, trigonium subtriangular, narrow, pointed at apex. Tegmen (L 0.56 mm, W 0.18 mm, Fig. 15B View FIGURE 15 ) long, sides diverging, apex with wide lobes, covered with setae. Sternite IX (L 0.29 mm, W 0.24 mm, Fig. 15C View FIGURE 15 ) subtriangular, with paired apodemes, apical margin rounded, apical portion covered with short, sparse setae. Tergite VIII (L 0.38 mm, W 0.37 mm, Fig. 15D View FIGURE 15 ) with relatively short apical plate, central portion projecting, with two subtriangular denticles, lateral parts of apical margin subtly setose, apodemes longer than apical plate, diverging. Tergite IX (L 0.30 mm, W 0.24 mm, Fig. 15E View FIGURE 15 ) with membranous apical plate, apodemes slightly longer than apical plate.
Female. Body ( Fig. 1J View FIGURE 1 ) brown, TL (n = 1) 2.80 mm. Apical portion of each elytron with two deep concavities and shallow, adsutural depression ( Fig. 8A View FIGURE 8 ). Gonocoxites ( Fig. 10D View FIGURE 10 ) narrowly triangular, membranous, gonostyli subapical, bursal sclerite present (L 0.23 mm, W 0.19 mm), subtriangular, with small subconical process and wid- ened posterior portion.
Variability. Colouration of body variable, from light brown to dark brown.
Measurements and ratios. Males (n = 4) TL 2.27–2.63 (2.51) mm, PL 0.47–0.57 (0.51) mm, PW 1.10–1.23 (1.15) mm, EL 1.97–2.17 (2.09) mm, EW 1.13–1.27 (1.19) mm, TL/EW 1.42–1.58 (1.54), PW/PL 2.18–2.36 (2.27), EL/EW 1.23–1.31 (1.28), EL/PL 3.82–4.50 (4.13).
Distribution. Known from two localities in Venezuela: Caracas (old records) and Henri Pittier National Park. Etymology. Named after Henri François Pittier (1857–1950), a Swiss-born botanist, who studied flora and fauna of Venezuela for many years.
