NOTES: Lister (1901b: 81) in describing the species comments that it was found by Mr. W. Cran “in the neighbourhood of Rhynie, Aberdeenshire ”. In BM we found one box (BM 1759) and three slide preparations of the Cran material,

two L:B.M.4 A, and the third with just the number “3” which has the reference to notebook XVIII: 47. On page 47 the species is described and illustrated and these illustrations are reproduced in the article. These samples all appear to be from the same material as all the data coincide. There are references to this species also in the notebook on other pages

(page 8 and 30).

There are 3 more boxes of material from Cran with the numbers 2239, 2240, 2241 all from the same place and date and with the refeence to notebook XVIII: 47, that we consider to be syntypes.
