NOTES: G. Lister (1926: 226), gave as the type location “Lessness Wood Kent; St. J. Marriott.”, and comments that “this species was found this summer and last autumn [1925] by Mr. St. John Marriott on dead wood in Lessness Wood, near Abbey Wood, Kent.”, but later comments “A similar form with pale yellow stalks has been obtained in Cornwall and Somerset, and also in Roumania, where Dr. Brandza has found the color of the plasmodium to be sometimes orange”. In BM we located 3 boxes ( BM 3972 , BM 3499 and BM 3973 ) that coincide with the data in the publication. We designate BM 3972 as the lectotype as it is the original material studied by G.Lister and in good condition. No slides or notes were located. The other boxes ( BM 3499 and BM 3973 ), have material from Cornwall and Moldavia respectively, and as they are also mentioned in the publication, we consider them to be syntypes. This variety is currently considered to be within the concept of the species .
