NOTES: In their article on the myxomycetes of New Zealand, the Listers (Lister & G. Lister, 1905: 112) commented

We have been favoured with the following graphic notes by Miss Hibbert-Ware on the Mycetozoa collected by her in New Zealand during her three months’ visit to the island from January to March, 1904” and noted the type location of the species as “On rotten wood, Stewart Island”. Miss Hibbert-Ware noted “in the dim light of the thick Bush of Stewart Island”, and the Listers added “The specimen consists of twenty-seven sporangia, whose colour resembles the dark wood on which they have developed so closely that they are very inconspicuous.”. In BM a specimen was located with the number BM 2131 and we designate it as the lectotype as there is no doubt as to its identity. In notebbok XXI: 154–155, 156A the species is commented upon and illustrated, noting that the sample is of 27 sporocarps, the same as the publication. The 3 slides are from the same sample even though they are labelled AHW 8, but they have the reference to the notebook .
