Type species: Siberiopelta bashkuevi Sinitshenkova & Yan , sp. nov.
Etymology. The genus name is derived from the Siberia region and “pelta” (Latine)—small round shield. Gender: feminine.
Diagnosis. These nymphal stoneflies have a streamlined, compact body as in extant Peltoperlidae . The head is smaller than both the pronotal length and width, antennae long. Legs short with thickened femora, tibiae slightly shorter than femora, tarsi shorter than tibiae, combined length of the first two tarsomeres significantly shorter than the third one. The abdomen slightly widened at the level of the fourth-fifth segments, tergum 10 with a rounded apex. Cerci short, multi-segmented. Dorsal body surface with dense setation.
Comparison. By the presence of a rounded tergum 10 the new genus resembles Yoraperla Ricker, 1952 and Sierraperla Jewett, 1954 , from which it differs by longer cerci.
