Commelina bangii Rusby (1910: 490–491) View in CoL
Type (lectotype, designated here):— BOLIVIA. LA PAZ: San Buenaventura : Tumupasa, 1800 ft., 10 December 1901, R. S. Williams 338 ( NY barcode 00247424!; isolectotypes K barcode 000363243!, US-1175489 barcode 00091561!). Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 .
Notes:—The protologue of Commelina bangii provided the following information on the type: ““Tumupasa, 1800 ft., Dec. 10, 1901 ” (No. 338)”. I was able to locate three syntypes for this name: K barcode 000363243, NY barcode 00247424 and US-1175489. All these specimens are in accordance with the morphological information provided in the protologue. All things considered, I designate the specimen at NY ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ) as lectotype of C. bangii , because of Henry Hurd Rusby’s long association with New York Botanical Garden. This species was described from Bolivia and is known only from the three above-mentioned original specimens, thus warranting urgent taxonomic studies.
