Distribution in mainland China: FJ, ZJ ( Chu & Zhang 1997 as Dinoderus pilifrons Lesne 1895 ).

Other distribution. India, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Europe ( Liu & Beaver 2018).

Biology. This species breeds primarily in bamboos, although attacks on other host plants do occur ( Beeson & Bhatia 1937). It has also been found attacking wood of various of tree genera ( Beeson & Bhatia 1937).
