Apoleon edax Perty, 1832: 52 View in CoL . ( Fig. 7J View FIGURE 7 )
Distribution in mainland China: Introduced to GD ( Chen & Yin 2003).
Other distribution. Burma, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia. ( Borowski & Węgrzynowicz 2007)
Biology. Chen & Yin (2003) collected the species (as Dysides spineus Chen & Yin 2003 ) from Parashorea Kurz (Dipterocarpaceae) wood imported to Shenzhen, Guandong from Malaysia. The boring activities of larvae cause damage to Dipterocarpus C.F. Gaertn. spp. (Dipterocarpaceae) ( Beeson & Bhatia 1937). This species is also recorded from Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex A.Juss.) Müll.Arg. (Euphorbiaceae) and Shorea obtusa Wall. (Dipterocarpaceae) in Thailand ( Beaver et al. 2011).
