Distribution in mainland China: AH, FJ, GX, GZ, HA, HB, HE, HN, JS, JX, LN, NM, NX, QH, SC, SN, YN ( Hua 2002).
Other distribution. Korea, Japan. Introduced to Europe and Australia. ( Liu & Geis 2019).
Biology. Yin & Cheng (2004) reported that a wooden floor of Phoebe zhennan S.K. Lee & F.N. Wei (Lauraceae) , and boards of Moraceae have been infested by this species. Quercus mongolica Fisch. ex Ledeb. and liquorice root tuber ( Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) ( Fagaceae ) and Pleioblastus simonii (Carrière) Nakai (Poaceae) have been recorded as host plants in Japan ( Liu & Geis 2019). Hua (2002) records the species from Chinese herbal medicine.
