Tambana similina Kononenko, 2004 , Mitteilungen des Internationalen Entomologischen Vereins, Frankfurt a. Main 29(3): 78, Pl. 2: 1. Type-locality: China, N Prov. Yunnan, Road Lijiang-Zhongdian, Hu Tiao Xia, 2300 m. Holotype: male, coll. ZFMK.
Note. The photograph of male genitalia in the publication Kononenko (2004) was interchanged; fig. 6 belongs to T. similina , incorrectly marked as Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 8 .
Material examined. Types. Holotype: male, China North Yunnan, Road Lijiang—Zhongdian Hu Tiao Xia vic., 2300 m, 27°18. 57′N 99°59. 27′E, 19.vi.1998, Della Bruna leg. / Museum A. VK2018 ZFMK / Museum Koenig, Bonn, Paratypus Tambana sinensis Kononenko [manuscript name], coll. ZFMK. Other material examined. CHINA, 1 male, Prov. Sichuan, Qingcheng Shan, 1600–1800 m, 31°12' N, 102°47' O, Sinyaev V. & Team, leg., 1–30.vi.2006, slide GB12118, coll. PG.
Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 35, 36 View FIGURES 33 – 40 ). Wingspan 55–56 mm. T. similina is most similar to T. c-album, but differs by larger size, darker and more brownish forewings colouration, absence of whitish suffusion in submedial and medial fields and smaller, less intensive and less diffused whitish area between reniform and outer line. The reniform smaller, formed by two small white basal and distal spots, outlined with black line; subterminal area brown, more distinctly defined compared with T. c-album.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 101 View FIGURES 101 – 103 ). The male genitalia are most similar to those of T. arctoides by shape of uncus and valva, but differ by a shorter and more massive valva, which is expanded apically, somewhat more massive and more curved harpe, by the structure of juxta and by structure of aedeagus and vesica. Uncus moderate in length, belt like, apically blunt; tegumen somewhat higher than vinculum, broad, bearing prominent penicular extensions; juxta shield-like, rounded; valva with parallel margins and elongated narrow sacculus, roundly oblique distal margin; costa and apex of valva bearing strong setae; harpe strong, curved, lies in apical half of valva. Aedeagus moderate in length, massive, straight, with short scobinate carina; vesica broadly-tubular, projecting dorsally, bearing twin patch of patches of strong cornuti in subapical part.
Female unknown.
Distribution and bionomy. China (Provs.Yunnan, Sichuan: Qingcheng Shan). The species was collected in June at elevation 800–2000 m.
