Externally T. succincta differs from related T. subflava by somewhat larger size, broader shape of forewings, with less oblique outer margin and by details of wing pattern: more regular crosslines, shape of orbicular, presence only one white spot outside orbicular and whitish marks in costal area; subterminal line always with 2–3 prominent white spots. Hindwing yellow, or orange-yellow, with clearly defined terminal band, broader than in T. succincta .
Male genitalia ( Fig. 97 View FIGURES 95 – 97 ). Resembles genitalia of Anacronicta spp. T. succincta differs from related T. subflava by elongate diamond-shaped uncus, relatively narrow valva with rather thin harpe positioned near central part of valva and by massive shape of aedeagus with vesica armed with tree patches of moderate cornuti. Uncus rather short, diamond-like, extended medially, constricted to apex; tegumen moderate broad, shorter than vinculum, penicular extensions not expressed; vinculum V-shaped; transtilla with broad lobes; juxta shield-like; valva elongate, much narrower than T. subflava , slightly curved, with parallel margins, constricted and rounded apically; harpe lies in distal half of valva, rather thin, slightly curved, pointed apically. Aedeagus short, massive, straight, with broad, scobinate carina; vesica bulbous-tubular, bearing one medial and two subapical field of moderate cornuti.
