Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Synanceia verrucosa View in CoL by Crocetta & Bariche in Crocetta et al. (2015: 697).

Distribution. Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Sokotra, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Marshall, Tuamotu and Gambier islands, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, Queensland ( Australia), Middleton Reef, New Caledonia, Tonga and Austral Islands.

Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 20 June 2017). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Nonindigenous species, no conservation action needed .
