Abies veitchii , Picea sp, Pseudotsuga menziesii .

Insect vector.

Dryocoetes hectographus .

Distribution.

USA, Japan.

Notes.

The orange section shaped to hemispherical ascospores makes this species distinct from others in the complex ( Ohtaka et al. 2002). This fungus was also reported associated with Dryocoetes hectographus on Abies veitchii in Japan based on morphology ( Ohtaka et al. 2002), but the identity of the Japanese isolates needs to be verified with DNA sequences.

Additional material examined.

CANADA, British Columbia, Lake Louise, from small Scolytinae sp. in Picea sp. Aug 1994, M. J. Wingfield, (cultures: CMW 3094, CMW 3095).
