Metacnephia blanci (Grenier & Theodorides) View in CoL
The first report of M. blanci that we found for Algeria appears in the inventory of Crosskey & Howard (1997), although without collection data. Our collections of M. blanci indicate that the larvae and pupae typically inhabit medium to large (mean width = 11.1 m), cool to warm (up to 22°C) rivers with moderate to fast flow and substrate of rubble, gravel, and sparse boulders. Larvae and pupae were found from November to January and again from March to June, perhaps representing staggered hatching or distinct cohorts.
