Polia subcontigua (Eversmann, 1852) ( = altaica Kindermann in Lederer, 1853)

Bionomics. FP: VII–VIII. Meso-xerophilous species. Dry open woodlands, montane shrub-steppes.

Known localities. S: Sharbakty; B: Shonai, Abet Bulak, Zhana Zhosaly, Airtas; M: Kalmakkyrgan, Kaytas, Koktas.

Literature: Titov et al. (2017b, as P. altaica ).

Note. The conspecificity of the names altaica and subcontigua was first established by Matov et al. (2008) but the priority of subcontigua over altaica was reversed by the authors with reference to the Article 23.9 of ICZN (1999). Later, the name altaica was synonymised with subcontigua by Varga et al. (2017) without the publication by Matov et al. (2008) being mentioned, and the priority of subcontigua over altaica was subsequently followed by Matov et al. (2019) and Varga et al. (2020), however, without any comments provided.
