Cryphalus abietis (Ratzeburg, 1837) View in CoL
This species was recorded from Ficus sp. in the southern provinces by Modarres Awal (1997). Cryphalus abietis is considered to be a synonym of Cryphalus asperatus (Gyllenhal, 1813) (Wood 1986; Knížek 2011), a species that attacks conifers ( Abies , Picea , Pinus ). Cryphalus species are normally distinctly host-specific, and it is unlikely that a conifer-breeding species would be found on Ficus . Species of Cryphalus are difficult to identify, and a misidentification is possible.
