Specimens examined: UAE: Wadi Bih (dam), 1♂, 1♀, 4.iv.2009, leg. AvH.
Discussion: The species is characterized by a medially unpunctured zone of the clypeus. Punctures are restricted to the basolateral areas only. Body is all black except some red marks of the face. See Gadallah (2004) for description and key to the Arabian species of Scolia Fabricius, 1775 . Osten (2005a) discusses the possible conspecifity with Scolia turkestanica Betrem, 1935. The reddish spots at the inner eye margin of the specimens from the UAE are barely visible due to the alcohol preservation.
Distribution: Saudi Arabia ( Gadallah, 2004), Oman ( Osten, 2005a). New to the UAE.
No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009. Taxonomic information exchange and copyright: the Plazi approach. BMC Research Notes 2009, 2:53 for further explanation.
