Synthesiomyia Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1893: 9 View in CoL , 110, 178. Type-species: Synthesiomyia brasiliana Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1893 View in CoL [= Cyrtoneura nudiseta Wulp, 1883 View in CoL ], orig. des.
Diagnosis. Eye bare; arista with very short cilia; prealar seta strong; katepimeron and anepimeron bare; dorsocentrals 2:4; katepisternals 1:2; wing veins bare; vein M strongly curved forward apically; lower calypter very enlarged; sternite 1 setulose.
Comments. The genus is widespread in the Australasian and Oceanian Regions and was recently recorded from New Caledonia ( Couri et al. 2010).
