DISTRIBUTION: Nayarit to N. Guerrero ( Mexico).
COMMENT: Subgenus Otospermophilus ; see Hall, 1981:403. Gromov et al., 1965:145, considered Otospermophilus a distinct genus. Type locality designated by Howell, 1938, N. Am. Fauna, 56: 163.
