Distribution
Sri Lanka and India through SE Asia (including Myanmar, Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia) to Java and Borneo; Sanana Island (Sula Group, Moluccas Islands).
Distribution in Lao PDR ( Fig. 36 View FIG ): Attapu Province: Ban Paam, Dong Ampham NBCA; Houay Pha Camp, Xe Kaman, Dong Ampham NBCA (SMF collection); Xe Kaman River proposed dam site, Dong Ampham NBCA (IEX/ROM/SMF collections); Champasak Province: 5 km west of ‘km 20’, Dong Khanthung (ROM collection); Dong Hua Sao NBCA (SMF collection); Nong Lom, Bolaven Plateau (CMF field record).
Taxonomic note
Genetically, bats from Lao PDR are very distinct from those found in peninsular Malaysia or Borneo ( Francis, 2010), and may represent a distinct species.
