Figs 64–68 View FIGURES 64 – 68

Description. General: ( Figs 64, 65 View FIGURES 64 – 68 ) Body length 3.1mm. Arista short plumose. M1+2 ratio 5.3. First flagellomere slightly enlarged, more broadly lobate ventrally, higher than long. Female unknown.

Chaetotaxy: Three fronto-orbital setae, anterior seta 3/5 length. Ocellar seta twice length of ocellar tubercle. Postvertical seta thin, slightly shorter than tubercle. Interfrontal seta small, but well-developed. First flagellomere with hairs slightly longer along distal margin around and ventral to arista insertion. Anterior dorsocentral half length of posterior dorsocentral; closely set posteriorly. Acrostichal seta only slightly longer than surrounding setulae. One lateral scutellar seta.

Colour: Setae brown. Antenna light yellow, first flagellomere whitish with dorsal brown stripe that fades anteriorly; frons with orange tint excluding yellow posterolateral corner encompassing base of vertical setae, region behind tubercle and lateral margin of orbital plate along eye; ocellar tubercle dark brown; back of head yellow with one pair of brown stripes radiating from foramen (connected basally) and ventral margin whitish; remainder of head below antenna yellowish-white with clypeus brown; parafacial, gena and postgena silvery tomentose. Notum brown with presutural regions aside from anteromedial margin paler and yellow-mottled, including yellowish postpronotum. Pleuron white with brown subnotal stripe on dorsal half of proepisternum, dorsal half of anepisternum (narrower anteriorly) and most of anepimeron. Legs whitish-yellow with coxae and most of femora white. Halter whitish. Wing clear with distal 1/3 anterior to R4+5 very lightly infuscated. Abdomen brown with sternites paler, becoming yellowish anteriorly; cercus and surstylus yellowish-white.

Male terminalia: ( Figs 66–68 View FIGURES 64 – 68 ) Epandrium broadly rounded, recessed posterodistally. Cercus small, finger-like. Surstylus narrow, pointed, with numerous small tubercle-like setae apically and posterodistally on inner surface; trifid, with triangular process medially on anterior and posterior margins. Phallapodeme rod-like. Hypandrium with long, ventrally curved lateral lobe with three minute apical setae. Pregonite long, lobate, clear, with three medial setae. Postgonite small, lobate, with several apical setae. Basiphallus well-developed. Epiphallus as large as basiphallus in profile, projecting. Distiphallus 2/5 length of phallapodeme. Paraphallus slightly longer than distiphallus, tapered apically, bent before midpoint and minutely spinulose dorsally.

Etymology: The specific epithet is derived from the Latin for “three-pronged fork”/“trident” (fuscina), referring to the shape of the surstylus.

Distribution: Madagascar.

Holotype: MADAGASCAR. Diego-Suarez Prov.: Parc National Montagne D-Ambre, 12˚30′52ʺS, 49˚10′53ʺE, 960m, 21–26.i.2001, Malaise, M.E. Irwin, E.I. Schlinger, R. Harin’Hala (1♂, CSCA).
