ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1857: 220.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ a Windobona [Vienna ( Austria)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype ( MZUF: Box 8): Brachiglossum Rnd. / coronatum Rnd., Germ. [= Germany] / 376 / Conops diadematus Rond.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Leopoldius coronatus View in CoL ( Chvála & Smith 1988: 247, Rivosecchi & Scaramozzino 1995: 2, Stuke 2017: 57).

REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 220) described Brachiglossum coronatum without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens. Stuke (2017: 57) considered the MZUF specimen as the holotype even if the specimen is labeled Germ. [= Germany] and not Austria.
