TYPE LOCALITY: “ in locis montuosis in ditionis Parmensis [mountains in Parmese territory ( Italy)]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 6): Cheilosia Mgn / pusilla Rnd. / 263 / Cheilosia mutabilis Fall. , ♂, det. Claussen, 1988 / lectotype Cheilosia pusilla Rond. , ♂, des. Claussen & Speight, 1999.

PARALECTOTYPE NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (MZUF: Box B): Cheilosia pusilla Rnd. , 92, ♂, Apenn. [= Apennines] / 393 92; 1 specimen (sex not determinable, missing left mid-leg) (MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Cheilosia pusilla Rnd. 376 Parma / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 5, posiz. A-10 / Museo di Storia Naturale Università di Pisa, Calci (PI) ex collezione Rondani.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Cheilosia mutabilis Fallén, 1817 View in CoL ( Peck 1988: 110, Belcari et al. 1995a: 13, Claussen & Speight 1999: 97).
REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 156) described both sexes of Cheilosia pusilla , providing specific characters for the male and female, from an unspecified number of specimens. Claussen & Speight (1999: 97) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (2 ♀♀) but did not mention an additional two specimens: one in the MZUF and one in the MSNC (both of these are paralectotypes).
